 Review: No Irish traditional band, with the exception of De Dannan, has spun off more musically gifted members than Solas. The core of the band-multi-instrumentalist, Seamus Egan and fiddler, Winifred Horan has remained constant throughout their ten year history. The current lineup includes: Mick McAuley, accordion; Eamon McElholm, guitar and Deirdre Scanlon, vocals. On September 13, 2005 the band celebrated its tenth anniversary with a concert in Philadelphia. All of the ex-members returned, John Williams, accordion, John Doyle, guitar, Donal Clancy guitar and Karan Casey, vocals. The DVD portion of the combination records the concert. the various incarnations play together. Between tunes the members discuss how the lineup changes affected the music. The concert ends with Nil La La when the entire band, and all the sidemen, perform together. The CD consists of seventeen tracks recorded in studio, specifically for this package. |
